Journeyman Data Analyst

Summary/Objective

As a key member of our organization, you support our customer, the National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory (NVFEL) IT and Telecommunications Support by providing analyzing large data sets and recommending solutions in Ann Arbor, Michigan.


In this role, you’ll assist our client and support our growth in the government contractor industry through three key activities:

  • Collect, analyze, and recommend solutions.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for continuous improvement.

 

Essential Functions

  • Collect, process, and analyze large sets of data.
  • Gather data from various sources, including databases, CRM systems, and external sources.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations to present data in an easy-to-understand format.
  • Provide recommendations based on data analysis to support strategic planning and operational improvements.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand their data needs.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve data pipelines and storage solutions.

 

Competency

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong experience with data management tools.
  • Ability to work with large datasets and derive meaningful insights.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data in a simple way.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques is preferred.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines is preferred.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, Python, R, or similar.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar is preferred.
  • Knowledge of relational database systems like Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres etc.
  • Knowledge of database management and query languages (e.g., SQL).
  • Working experience in cloud environments like AWS, Azure, GCP etc. preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis or a related role.
